A sample of the more than 200 members of the Mustang Marching Band were surveyed and their responses were combined with words curated from news stories associated with the topic. Larger words indicate that more respondents attributed that quality to why they joined band.

More than just a band, the Mustang Marching Band also serves as a club of sorts where members have an opportunity to meet likeminded people, and the friendships they cultivate were among the biggest responses to the survey. Kappa Kappa Psy, the band's fraternity, was one of the more common responses for the same reason. But not surprisingly, the music was by far the largest response.
