My name is Eden Elissague, I am a 26-year-old, broadcast journalism junior at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, Calif.  In my first experience with an interactive website, I wanted to focus on something that could make a difference for others. Admittedly, as a returning college student, most of daily focus and attention is spend on juggling classes, homework, my part-time job and internship, and trying to leave time for some what of a social-life.  Besides the interaction I have with my close friends, family and my boyfriend, my outreach in helping others is less than extensive. Regrettably, I do close to nothing, unless recycling counts, to give back to my local community. So, feeling extremely selfish and bummed out, I realized I have to do something to change this.

This is why I wanted to build a website centered around local volunteer organizations and those who participate in these organizations and the people they help. By reporting on these topics it also raises awareness in the local community, as well as Cal Poly students to make it accessible for all to volunteer. I am excited for the opportunity to delve into the world of volunteering and community outreach and only hope to do it the justice it deserves with my website.
