Contestant Name: Cal State Long Beach
    Entry Title: Our Intersectionality

Judge Comment: Putting a subject at ease is no easy task. Even the most confident individuals can be self conscience when a camera is pointed in their direction. In this series, the photographer did an extraordinary job at helping the subject share their identity. Beyond that, they kept a consistent, cohesive look and feel throughout the series, making good use of the light and landscape.
  • Place Name: Second Place
Contestant Name: California State University Los Angeles
Entry Title: East L.A. landmarks: The Community's favorite spots
Entry Credit: Jathniel Coronado, Lauren Dahncke, Briana Munoz
Judge Comment: What do you do or what do you cover when everyone is staying home because of a pandemic? It's a challenge so many publications have faced since the pandemic began. The photographer deserves commendation for asking and answering that question, making good use of an awkward time. Through the series, they provide informative images to those who are not familiar with East Los Angeles, while simultaneously bringing a sense of nostalgia to those who are. The consistency of the light and color palette strengthen the series.
  • Place Name: Third Place
Contestant Name: University of California, Los Angeles
Entry Title: Looking up the family tree
    Entry Credit: Kanishka Mehra
Judge Comment: There's more here than meets the eye — at least initially. I kept coming back to each image over and over, each time finding something subtle that I hadn't noticed before.
